Yet Another Exciting Week for The G!

I have had an absolutely incredible week! First off I spent a day at college to get to know the students I'll spend next year with, and I even made a friend. After that I had an absolutely incredible Saturday which may have started rough, but it became one of my happiest days. Today has also been pretty darn good too!

I'm going to start with my day at college which was Wednesday. I didn't really expect much out of it in the first place, I went because I wanted to see who I'd be spending the next year with so I had time to mentally prepare myself for it. Most of the lads seemed alright, but they definitely aren't the kind of dudes I'd usually attach myself too, one of the girls wasn't either. The other girl however I did find some connection with, I ended up spending the majority of the day making friends with her, she seemed to be the most like me.

Surprisingly the people I met that day seemed to like me, I usually have people hating me straight from the get-go, but not this time. I'm also not sure how long this will last, but most of the year will be spent team-building so I imagine we all might come to be friends, maybe not good friends but friends nonetheless.

As I said Saturday has been the best day in recent memory for me. Unfortunately though I started it off by talking to my ex-girlfriend (and not the good ex-girlfriend either) so I started the day feeling pretty damn horrible. I'm not going to go into details, it's not very interesting, (for me at least).

That feeling lasted about an hour, it stopped when a little knock at the door signaled the arrival of a package for me. Inside the package was a new headset for me to record my YouTube videos with, and more importantly, a set of bass strings (D'Addario Chromes XL if you must know) so I distracted myself for the next few minutes by listening to Tool and restringing (and polishing) my bass.

Once she was restrung I felt like I could marry my bass guitar, flat wound strings are amazing, they feel so smooth and they flatten out and smooth the tone to really emphasise the fact it's a bass instrument. I don't think I'm ever buying round wound strings for my basses again.

Unfortunately I wasn't able to play her for very long, it was time for my day to start. To jump back a little, Wednesday was Zaina's birthday, but she was unavailable that day due to plans with her family, Saturday was the day where me and Ash were able to celebrate with her. and come one O'clock on Saturday afternoon I set off for Ash's house where I got a lift to Zaina's house (after a brief clothes shopping trip).

The day with Zaina was spent pretty much in the same way as all other days with Zaina. We just sat back and chilled whilst having a great laugh. The highlight of out time there was that she made us a really nice curry, and even supplied us with a nice amount of naan bread and poppadoms, as well as prawn crackers, mango chutney and some weird tasty chicken things. That meal really did kick ass.

That time soon came to an end and it was time for me to face what I was expecting to be the hardest part of the day. To jump back once again, that morning I noticed a post on the Bronies UK Facebook page saying that the blog was going to be opened up to a few new authors and he was looking for applications. Being an aspiring author, and a big fan of the My Little Pony television series, I added him on Skype, thinking I'd have a higher chance if I applied that way instead of by filling in the form. I was told at the time that he couldn't speak to me because he had to go to work, and that he would be able to speak after nine PM.

When I got back home from Zaina's house at about half past nine, the first thing I did was send him a message. No reply, so I waited. While I waited I decided to plug in my new headset and test it out. I thought progressive rock sounded incredible without surround sound, with it it sounds like pure magic being pumped into my brain. It's Heaven.

Half an hour later I received a message and we started talking. He asked me if I'd ever wrote for a blog before and I told him that I have my own blog (this one) and then sent him a link to last weeks post. He was so impressed with it he just accepted me onto the team there and then. I couldn't believe it. Then he started asking me the interview questions just for the sake of it.

I don't think I've been that giddy since just before May Day when I started seeing Lydia. I wanted to celebrate and dance around my house, but unfortunately my brother was asleep and he needed to wake up at stupid O'clock in the morning, (his words), so I couldn't make much noise.

Today was a bit more toned down, I spent the morning trying something new with my YouTube channel, and I spent the best part of two hours editing my video, at least it felt like that long. It was all worth it, I quite like how my video turned out.

After all that was done I went to my friend Nathan's house where we discussed our band and recorded a silly video for his YouTube channel. The majority of that visit was about how our band needed a name change, because the name we had was more horror-punk than pop-punk. We now have a new name, and this next week will be spent on a logo, and also creating a set list that gives us about fifty minutes of play time. Hopefully we can soon get our hands on a drummer and then get around to doing some proper rehearsals.

I'm pleased to be able to end this post by saying that i am most definitely pulling myself out of my depression, I now have a band, I've made a new friend, I also have a new hobby and even a bit of a job. As long as I keep on going like this, I reckon I'll be back to my old self by September at the latest.

A Lone Lonely Loner Alone in a Fortress of Solitude

As the title suggests I've been quite lonely this week (and yes the title is a Sid quote from Ice Age 3). I've been lonely for two reasons the first of which is that my girlfriend has been very ill since Wednesday and I haven't been able to see her. The second is that I have no other friends outside of school. I used to have another mate outside of school, but he became so unreliable, I gave up trying to keep in touch with him.

Unfortunately despite my lack of distractions at school, I haven't been able to keep up with my business coursework, but that's okay, I'll only get a detention or two, and the last detention I had with that teacher was actually the most entertaining hour of my life, for two reasons: I couldn't get over the stupidity of the offence I'd committed to get that detention in the first place, and also I was in detention with my girlfriend (who had committed the exact same offence), and since the teacher was marking work not paying attention to us, we spent the entire hour making out.

I get the feeling that you're wondering what that offence was, so I'll tell you, we were asked a stupid question about our personal achievements so we answered them honestly, I wrote that I successfully performed in the school talent show without getting booed off stage, and Dana simply wrote "I've done nothing of worth." Apparently that is really bad behaviour. Even more interesting, we both ended up receiving a special lesson about lying and padding our CV's (from the head of Sixth Form too).

But that was ages ago, and I highly doubt this detention will consist of snogging. But hell, it's not my fault my teacher is unreliable, and is hardly ever in, more importantly when she is in she just says we have got work to do, not what the work is, or how to do it, just that we have it. I guess it really is a teachers job to be awkward.

This weekend was painful though, yesterday was my brothers 25th birthday, so I promised him a Warhammer game, naturally the midget bastard kicked my arse, but i still wiped out his most powerful unit with one bloke, that unit would of been annihilated beforehand if William didn't suddenly remember that Eldar vehicles get the Jink rule when the move, and that saved his precious cargo from being obliterated by my rocket.

If that wasn't interesting the rest of my weekend was even less interesting, I watched romantic comedies after that Warhammer game, I wanted to watch both Princess Diaries films, but they have been taken off of Netflix, just like everything else I wanted to watch. I spent most of today building a castle on Minecraft, I only ever use creative mode on Minecraft when I'm especially bored, so I don't know what came over me earlier.

On the upside the new League of Legends champion Vel'Koz, who has just been released, is epic and I think I'm going to have a game now.

Pull!

This week has been quite a good one, despite the minor setbacks, like spending most of Thursday in great pain because I was ill, oh well I watched my favourite film (V for Vendetta) to try and make up for it, it worked. Annoyingly my throat is still sore, and I keep sucking on out of date menthol tablets to try and make it better, is that actually a good idea? Another setback was that I'm not the only person who is ill, my girlfriend also suffered, and I had to face the consequences of that.

But no one cares about the first part of the week, the interesting bit is what happened on Saturday. put simply I went to Cloudside Shooting & Sporting Club for so clay pigeon shooting. It was so much fun, and a hobby I'm considering taking up, especially since it's cheaper than Warhammer. It was the best thing that could of been done for my 18th birthday.

My eldest brother Chaz (aged 26), who considers himself to be extremely manly, spent most of the time wining about how much the shotguns recoil hurt his shoulder, it was rather annoying, but it just means I can happily call him a pansy because he was the only one who was hurt by it. however the git did tie second place with my next oldest brother William, who I'm also tempted to call a pansy because he wore his plated motorbike jacket, however I can't blame him, it's his only coat and it was cold up there.

In relation to the scores, our South African friend Dan won, with a mighty 31 kills (I Don't know what these are out of) with my dad coming last at 18 kills. Dad may not of done well but he certainly looked the part. I came 3rd (since my brothers tiedon 25) I scored 22 kills, which wasn't bad for my first time.

As a very quick review of the place, the service was brilliant, the people there were all friendly and polite, especially when teaching us how to shoot properly, more importantly (at least for some) the food was exquisite, it's not often I get a pie that good. Also it is licensed to serve booze, but no one cares about that when the tea (and coffee*) is free (at least it was for us).

If you read last weeks post you would know some things about me, but more importantly you would of read my prediction for my only birthday present (a Chocolate Orange) well I was right and after sacrificing 4 segment to the Blood God Khorne (my girlfriend Dana) I was able to sit back and enjoy my chocolatey treat while my horribly sensitive teeth complained.

I'd also like to point out that after a long winded debate over the pie, mentioned earlier, that we all came to the conclusion that I can't be allergic to penicillin, since I can happily devour Stilton cheese in copious amounts. So as it turns out I am medically sound, which means I should be accepted into the army when I next apply.

* I felt the need to put coffee in brackets because coffee is not British and what we are talking about is really a sport undertaken by the English tweed-wearing gentleman, and coffee doesn't quite suit the stereotype. If you are a coffee drinker just be glad that I was considerate enough to point out the fact that coffee is also free, and also be grateful that I have devoted a whole paragraph to that cursed beverage.
