If the title hasn't already given it away, I've spent this week watching anime and cartoons. I have done other things, for instance I had band practice earlier, I have been playing a hell of a lot of guitar, and I have been drooling over Killing Floor 2. Weirdly, I have even done a bit of gaming this week, I've played about 10 matches of League of Legends, did a few levels on Serious Sam 3, and I pushed my monk through Westfall in World of Warcraft.
This week has mainly been about the cartoon/anime watching for me though. I was coming up on the end of Bleach (I had about 40 episodes left) and so I decided to power through that. Once that was completed, the season finale of Archer was available, so I watched that. After that I was stuck, but then I remembered an advert for a cartoon I saw on Disney Channel while I was at my mates on Monday.
That cartoon is called Star versus the Forces of Evil, and I for one think it is incredible. so far there are only three episodes, each is split into two mini episodes. I plowed through the three episodes in one sitting, and now I stare at the recent releases section of my preferred website waiting for the next episode(s) to be uploaded.
Since I could watch Star, I decided it was time to embrace my masculinity and watch Dragon Ball Z. It was actually a hard choice to make, a large portion of me said to watch Sailor Moon, which I had started in August, but I then stopped for some reason. I really don't know why I stopped, I was loving Sailor Moon. Finally to top off my cartoon watching, the season premiere of My Little Pony was uploaded last night, and so I watched that while I ate my breakfast this morning. I loved it.
As I also mentioned, I have been playing a lot of guitar this week. It's nothing new, but I thought I'd mention it because it wasn't until band practice earlier that I actually properly started playing anything close to metal. I've had a week of clean guitar and finger picking, only occasionally flicking to the bridge pickup and adding a bit of crunch, but those crunch moments didn't last long, it was usually for a quick lick or riff to just break up the strangeness of my clean guitar playing.
I've also declared it restringing time, but only for my three main axes. So far I've only ordered strings for one of my guitars, I'll have to take some of my wages out of my vault and put them in the bank before I order my next set just so I can continue to have an acceptable amount of funds in my account. I would have ordered the other strings with the set I ordered for my 8-string guitar, but I've only just decided what strings I'm getting for what guitar, and I'm still not sure whether or not to go with it, chances are I'll change my mind last minute.
I've also decided I should get an acoustic guitar, but I won't get one. at least not for awhile. It's time to buy an amp head, and that is more important to me right now. However, I will be buying an acoustic guitar at some point. Correction: three acoustic guitars. as it stands I want to own a 6 and a 12 string western guitar as well as a classical guitar. I won't be buying any that are too flashy, but they'll still be good, as long as I hand Nathan the money and get him to order them, he has more luck than I do.
As I said, the amp head is my next step, after that it'll most probably be a new bridge pick-up for my 8-string. Another 8-string would be nice, but I'm trying to be realistic. If I'm lucky and my repair idea works, I may not buy a new pick-up and simple try to sort out a pedal board for myself, I have some of the parts I want, such as the power supply and a delay pedal, I could probably also borrow Nathan's drive pedal for gigs since he won't need it then. Unfortunately, I'm still short on a few things, namely a chorus, a pedal tuner and some form of octaver or pitch shifter, which ever gets the sound I want.
I'm happy, at least I'm mostly happy. Nathan has ordered a mic, a stand, I believe he's also ordered a lead for it, and thankfully we already have an amp for it. I should be able to gig with my amp, but I'd feel much safer with a new amp head which can be easily transported, and isn't likely to explode on me. I have been warned by my brother that my current amp will probably do just that if I crank it up too much.

8 Strings?
As I mentioned in my last post, I have bought an 8-string guitar. It arrived awhile back, but I had to get it replaced, the replacement arrived on Tuesday, and naturally on Thursday (after the back of the guitar had been covered in belt scratches) the bridge pick-up slipped and is now very out of place. On the upside, I reckon I can give it a decent temporary fix.
This 8-string guitar actually turned out to be a better idea than I had originally hoped. My initial plans were to use it in Open F and play some nice instrumental music on it. Instead I took it down to Nathan's to show it off on the day he decides to start drumming. We jammed for a good ninety minutes, and during that time we had answered all our problems.
Our band had been struggling ever since our drummer decided to quit, and on Wednesday during mine and Nathan's jam session, I realised that we could work as a two-piece band because I could play both the bass and the lead parts on my 8-string guitar. This works out at a few more financial difficulties, since we were better prepared for our original idea, but overall it'll all work out cheaper for us, if we do it properly.
During our jam session we were also able to write a song, which was great since we'd have to start again with the song writing. Thankfully I was able to salvage and rework three of our other songs so we could still do them, they may sound different, but they still sound good. This knocks our current song count up to four, if I can get another six original songs I could happily start gigging, I don't mind doing the odd cover song (I have two in mind), but I'd much rather be doing our own material.
I also know that I need quite a bit more than just a few more songs before I can start gigging. The main thing being a decent place to rehearse. We unfortunately can't practice in Nathan's garage, his neighbours keep complaining, thankfully his dad plans on sorting out the back part of the garage (where we rehearse), which will hopefully involve some sound proofing.
Other things we need, amps, mics, and a few helping hands. Things I need: to sort out my guitar, another 8-string as back-up and/or different tunings and an amp that is NOT likely to explode on stage. Unfortunately for me, my brother has done a lot to my amp, and it apparently has a tendency to blow up if pushed above bedroom volumes. I'm not the only one who needs to invest money though, Nathan has a drumkit that needs quite a lot of maintenance, I'm also hoping he'll help investing in the mics and some amps for them.
In order for this project to work I need to start prioritising my expenditure. The first step will be to sort out this guitar as best as I can. The pick-up needs leveling, the strings want changing, and I'm putting some Schaller Strap Locks on for added security when playing. The pick-up leveling will be the hardest task since the screw is currently useless, my dad has an idea, and I have a backup idea, one of those ideas will definitely work. All the other adjustments on that guitar can wait, and so after that, I'll see about getting a decent guitar amp head, and then I don't have any clue what comes next.
I am quite excited about what I can do in this band, but I realise I've made plans like this before and something has decided to thwart them. I can only hope that that doesn't happen this time around, but I am already facing adversary. I hope this works out, but only time will tell, either way, I don't plan on giving up.

World of Warcraft and my New Toy
Just as I thought, World of Warcraft was a very bad idea, but not quite as bad as what I treated myself to yesterday, I honestly can't believe that I thought it would be a good idea to purchase what I purchased yesterday. In fact, I have no idea what I'm going to do with the magical item that I purchased yesterday. Thankfully, I have about nine days before it arrives, and so I've got that much time to think about things.
So what did I buy yesterday? Well, I'll tell you later but first I must talk about the scourge that is World of Warcraft. That evil games that sticks it's claws into your flesh and makes you spend countless hours beating the life out of murlocs just to hear them scream, and also because they drop a quest item, and they won't give you the last one you need for your quest.
I guess I'm weird, I love those adorable little terrors, they still scare the life out of me, but they're so much fun, and when you set the noise they make before they charge you as your text alert on your phone, you get some awesome looks on the bus. But murlocs are still terrors, and me being the idiot I am tried to tank them with my healer, but as it turns out, my healer is quite resilient.
I have been pretty much glued to that game all week, but annoyingly I'm about to hit level ninety, which, for me, is the highest level and so I've slowed down on my main, because I don't want to progress until I get the next expansion, which will be sometime after my new toy arrives. It's rather annoying, I have a character stuck in Westfall, who is set to level up alongside one of Nathan's characters. I have another character who is waiting at level 15 for one Nathan's characters so we can role-play together. I have a Pandaren mage who should really be doing Westfall, but I've done it so much as of late, I really can't be bothered to push through it.
And then there's Grundan, my Horde character. I'm not a big fan of the Horde, I don't like their capital city, and I've played Alliance for so long I feel like a traitor playing as a Horde character. Unfortunately, I felt the need for a bit of variety, and that is how Grundan came about. Currently, he's only level nine and is fighting with a bamboo sword, but he really can clobber murlocs with that thing.
I also installed an Add-On to my client, It's nothing fancy, but I quite like it. I installed the Add-On called MyRolePlay, it basically just adds an extra window to the character screen, allowing you to edit a few minor things, and also help other players who have the Add-On understand a little more about your Role Playing character.
World of Warcraft aside, it's time to talk about my new toy. Yesterday I ordered myself a set of twelve guitar picks from Amazon, but more importantly, I ordered an 8-string guitar from Thomann. To be exact, I ordered the Harley Benton R-458 BK Progressiv Series. If I can help it I'm going to try not to djent on it, chances are that I will djent, but I'm going to try not to. I will play metal on it, but if possible I'm going to avoid djent. Djent isn't my scene. I'm going to try and do something closer to Rob Scallon's work, so I'll tune into Open F and see where that takes me.
Originally I was going to order the R-457, which is pretty much the same guitar, only it's a 7-string instead of an 8-string. I only really wanted a seventh string, but I encountered the R-458 first, and with it only being something like £8 more expensive I thought I had nothing to lose with it. I can still play the songs that require seven strings on it, so why not go a little further.
If I enjoy this eight-string, I may upgrade and get myself an eight-string ESP, but even if I do it'll be awhile before that takes place, ESP guitars aren't exactly cheap, and the 8-string I was looking at was £666, which is the coolest price tag for a guitar so obviously designed for metal. But speaking of upgrades, my amp should probably come next, that or I should start socializing.

A Weird Passage of Time
It's strange to think that it's Sunday evening, last I checked it was still Wednesday. Instead the sands of time have continued to flow, leaving me behind, but now I shall sit back and wait for the sands of time to flow since I have just renewed my WoW account and I'm now waiting for it to install.
Slightly more importantly, my copy of Hand. Cannot. Erase. should arrive tomorrow, and I can't wait to listen to it and also to watch the DVD. I love Steven Wilson's previous album, and I expect good things from this one.
As a final not, I thought I'd let you know that I've come to terms with my Floyd Rose floating tremolo bridge, but I'm still going to try and avoid them where possible.

Slow and Shreddy Wins the Race
Since it has been half term I have spent the majority of my time playing guitar and watching Bleach, and I have just finished watching the Dorje livestream on Youtube, So I this post has been a little delayed, but while I wait for the Centered and One pre-order page to load I thought I'd quickly get my post in.
I think in this one week I've made a great improvement in my guitar playing, I say that mostly because I've learned quite a lot of new things, such as modes and two handed tapping. I've had quite a nice amount of fun using two handed tapping, and I've been enjoying the Phrygian and Locrian scales, I have also learned the Dorian, Lydian and Mixolydyian modes, I already knew the Aeolian and Ionian modes, but I didn't know those names for them.
I find there is a great satisfaction in learning new things, especially when it has something to do with what you love, and what I love is heavy metal. Don't get me wrong, I don't cast an artist aside just because they aren't a metal band, I am quite partial to blues, prog and even classical music, but my preference is metal. When asked what kind of metal is my preference I usually say extreme metal, because I love the four sub-genres it covers, and it makes the decision easier.
Unfortunately my playing has one major problem, which I presume time and practice with help me overcome, everything sounds samey, on top of that, the Black Sabbath influences are very prominent in what I write, so I could really do with breaking free of this, and adding a bit more variation into my playing. I doubt I'll ever be anywhere near as versatile as Guthrie Govan, but I don't want to be limited as a metal guitarist.
I have got one thing that makes me quite versatile, I've got a guitar designed for country and blues and yet I can get some incredible metal sounds out of it also, and I have both channels nicely set up to give me a different sound, the clean channel is slightly driven which gives me a nice sound somewhere between Rush and Joe Bonamassa. My crunch channel gives me an excellent metal tone perfect for pretty much every sub genre of metal, it doesn't work so well for hair metal though.
It helps that the Marshall Valvestate 80 combo I use isn't really a specialised amp, I wouldn't call it one anyway. I can get many sounds out of it, for many different genres, I just have to set it up right. I'd like to upgrade my amp, preferably into a separate head and a cab, The head I'd like to own is the Laney Iron Heart IRT60H, and I'd get a matching 412 cab. I've been looking through a lot of amps, and so far that has been my favourite.
As for guitars, my current primary guitar is a Dearmond M-75T, it's an incredible instrument, but it has one major problem: the last seven frets are hard to reach. This is because the singlecut design is very chunky, and also very heavy, and so guitar solos that take place past the fifteenth fret become very difficult.
This means a change in guitar is necessary, the easiest solution would be to use the ESP that I own, but I don't like it enough, it's an incredible instrument (despite the awkward bridge, which I'm starting to like a little bit more), but it doesn't fit as well in my hands as my Dearmond, my current thoughts are to buy a Chapman ML-2 and then customise that to get a tone worthy of me, but then I'd just end up with an over the top metal axe that I probably won't be able to use anywhere but my bedroom.
Either way it's a long road for a budding guitarist like myself, but if I'm lucky I might be able to make it as one within the armed forces. As they say, slow and steady wins the race.

Random Annoyances
As I might have mentioned in my last post, I had my army interview this week, I believe it went quite well, but I can't be bothered to talk about that again, I went through it in my Bronies UK post. I also went through my Valentines Day in that post, and so I won't be talking about that either. I also had my nineteenth birthday on Monday, which went by pretty much unnoticed, I'm not complaining, I hate the fuss and attention that birthdays usually bring.
So surely something worth talking about happened during the week, and in fact something did. A prime example of which is I realised just how much I dislike Floyd Rose floating tremolo bridges. I'm going to point out now that it's not because they are bad in any way, I actually think they're quite clever, and they hold their tuning extremely well. I do however believe that setting them up, and dealing with them is more effort than it's worth.
For those of you who are unfamiliar with that system, in order to change the tuning on your guitar you can't just play around with the tuning heads. Instead you have to undo the locking nut, providing you have one, which most guitars loaded with this system do, then you can play with the tuning heads until you get to whatever tuning you desire, after that you have to undo the back plate, and then you have to adjust the tremolo springs until the bridge is flat (for lack of a more accurate term), repeat those steps as long as necessary, reattach the back plate, redo the locking nut, and then you can finally fine tune.
Doing that was far too much effort when all I wanted to do was set it for C# standard (1 1/2 step down). I also gave it a restring so thankfully the locks on the nut were already removed, but in order to restring you need to cut the bullets off the end off your strings, unscrew a small block from the bridge, insert the string into where you pulled the block from, replace the block and tighten the screw. I'll give it one thing, at least I don't have to hold the string in place at both ends like I do with the Bigsby on my primary guitar, but it's still too much of a pain for my taste.
I shouldn't really complain about it too much though, I've been given a damn good guitar, and so it's worth maintaining, it needed a cleaning, and it also needed a pick-up ring replacing. I might as well change the strings while I'm at it, and if I wasn't awkward, and I was willing to use .010 - .046 gauge strings and keep it in standard tuning, a nice portion of the setup could have been avoided.
I was also nicely annoyed when my precious .011 gauge D'addario string snapped whilst retuning my primary guitar, to make matters worse, I only had a .010 gauge Rotosound string to replace it with, a .010 gauge E string sounds weird when it's attached to a set designed for an .011 gauge E string.
Another annoyance of the week, I was able to start working on that Vintage Metal Axxe bass yesterday, everything had finally arrived. There were two problems, one of which has been solved. the one that has been solved involved one of the screws holding the P-style pick-up in place. It was worn down to the point that a screwdriver would do anything. I sat there for what felt like an eternity with a dull saw (all I could find) turning the once-cross-headed screw into a flat-headed screw. It worked in the end, but I wasn't happy about the whole ordeal. The other problem has put me at a bit of a standstill, the pots I had ordered were too small, so now I need to order some long shafted pots.
I have also been annoyed by things that don't involve guitars. Mostly a few of the things that occurred to me this morning while delivering papers, and the happy memories that keep popping into my head. Yes, happy memories annoy me, this is because of the nature of those happy memories. I'd rather not go into the nature of those memories, but my realisation this morning that the biggest mistake I have made in my life as of yet was going to Sixth Form.
I don't now where I'd be without Sixth Form, But I still firmly believe that that was my biggest mistake, and I reckon it'll be awhile before I make a bigger one. I might be wrong about that, but I don't fancy making another huge mistake any time soon. So those of you year 11 students thinking about staying on for Sixth Form, I'd strongly advise against it, go to a college instead.
So surely something worth talking about happened during the week, and in fact something did. A prime example of which is I realised just how much I dislike Floyd Rose floating tremolo bridges.

Another Rally: Frozen Nuts! (And also some other stuff)
In case the title didn't give it I went on another bike rally, and I have just finished sewing the patch onto my cut-off. The Frozen Nuts patch was one of the three rally patches I wanted, meaning I now have the Another Piggin' Rally patch and the Frozen Nuts patch, the third patch of the three is for the Last Wolf Rally which I'll hopefully be going to this year.
Patches and rallies aside, for the time being t least, I have also been up to quite a bit this week. To be perfectly honest, this week didn't have the best of starts, self-doubt kicked in, and I spent the first half of the week thinking I'd get nowhere in life. Thankfully that disappeared on Wednesday, and the week could return to normality, which was good, especially since I had the first part of my army interview on Friday.
Thankfully it wasn't the real deal, it was a pre-interview in order to sort out my three job choices, since there is only a slim chance of me getting my first choice, I need to have back-up options. I'd also like to point out that I don't exaggerate when I say slim chance, in-fact I think a slim chance would be bigger than the chance I have. I say this because I plan to be a musician in the army, and I plan on entering as a bassist (but I will happily go for guitarist if need be). with there only being three army bands that require a bass guitarist, and each band will only need one bassist, there are only three potential jobs for me, that could be boosted up to nine by adding six guitarist slots (two for each contemporary band), but there are jazz bands which I might be able to slot myself into.
I now have two back-up jobs, I had to change at least one of my original jobs because the staff sergeant interviewing me, didn't want to send me into one of those job choices. This meant he gave me a nice big pile of job briefs to take home, sift through, select three jobs from and rank them in order of preference. The end result (in order of preference) was Musician, Combat Medical Technician and Military Policeman.
Army aside, the day before I restrung my bass. I used the thicker four strings of a five-string set (leaving me with a spare G string), and after about twenty minutes of playing part of the nut shot off making a satisfying ping sound. I literally busted a nut. I made a few quick measurement and ordered a new nut from eBay, while I was measuring I noticed that there was enough nut left to raise the string, but not enough left to hold the string in place. I decided to use my engineering prowess and I wrapped duct tape around the strings to hold the thick B string on the remainder of the nut.
The duct tape idea works quite nicely, but I had to put a bit more tape on not long after taking the picture, because the B string only stayed in place for two minutes of playing, I now get fifteen minutes of playing before I have to adjust it. At least I now have another nut on the way to replace my current on. Hopefully my new nut will be stronger, I order a graphite one to replace the original plastic lump.
That bass has a few more problems with it, which should be fixed by the next post. as it stands it an active on-board pre-amp which has died. I don't really know much about electronics, but I do know that the wiring is a mess, and it makes no sense to me, or to Nathan, and so I have decided to remove all the wiring and the pre-amp, and replace everything. I'm even going to replace the pick-ups with the Seymour Duncan Quarter Pound P-J set. This will leave me with a pot connected to nothing (I'll ground to that) and an empty hole where the battery should go which I'll fill with a block of lead hopefully adding enough weight to counteract the headstock heaviness of the stock bass. I will at some point also add a set of Schaller Strap Locks, and buy a decent strap.
I have also had a bit more misfortune with guitars this week, this time it was my primary guitar. I've had her tuned down a step-and-a-half for six days, and so when I decided to tune her back up to E standard the 0.011 gauge high E string snapped and struck me on the infected scab on my right middle finger. My finger hurt enough as it was, that string really didn't help. Thankfully the Rotosound set I bought awhile back for another guitar came with a spare 0.010 gauge string, which will suffice for now.
I have now also decided it was time to restring the guitar I got off my brother. I've been putting this off for awhile because the Floyd Rose Floating Tremolo bridge seemed like it would be a ball-ache to deal with, I've also decided to replace the busted pick-up ring holding the neck humbucker in place, I'd like to replace both pick-ups at some point, but I don't really want to do something that will annoy my brother since I don't fully consider the guitar mine. That guitar is now back in her box after a vigourous cleaning, and there she will remain until her new pick-up ring arrives.
Hopefully I can get both of those guitars finished and theoretically, I should be done working on my guitars until June, when my Epiphone and Harley Benton basses get restrung. That is, of course, unless I buy a rolling tune-o-matic bridge, which won't take long to fit.
Anyway, as some of you know, this weekend was the weekend of the 29th annual Frozen Nuts Rally! Naturally as soon as we arrived some woman with a very hoarse voice came up to us and gave us a tongue lashing for something that happened six hours prior to our arrival. One of the lads from the Greedy Pigs started a very loud argument at four in the morning and kept everyone awake for the next three hours while they all shouted and screamed at each other. If you were one of those unfortunates who were affected by their arguing, I have a very strong feeling that disciplinary action will take place at the next meeting, but since I'm not a member of the Greedy Pigs, I can't say anything with any certainty.
Other than the bad start, the rally was quite enjoyable, I was only there for the Saturday, and so I didn't get to the the Jalepenos perform, but I hear they were good. I did however see half of Disturbin' the Peace's performance. I say half because I went outside for a breather during there interval and all the booze, the cold and the fact I had been awake since six O'clock that morning all struck me at once. I just couldn't continue, and so I dragged myself to the tent and slowly drifted to sleep.
I may have missed the half naked sexy girls, I may have missed Disturbin' the Peace cover a Rush song, but I did witness the worst proposal ever, which naturally took place in the middle of a hen party. I then saw (about five minutes later) the newly engaged woman fall over on the dance floor, spilling booze all over the singers pedals and the monitor by his feet. I reached out to help her up, and she gave me a really dirty look.
The bride-to-be from the hen party also randomly gave me, and a few other confused looking dudes, a big hug, while someone followed her with a camera. As soon as she stepped away from me, Dion (Nathan's dad) walked up to me and said "You lucky git, I've been eyeing her up all night." I on the other hand was eyeing up another member of her party, that entire group were wearing corsets, and one of those corsets looked like it was about to pop, so I was eyeing up the owner of that corset.
At some point between the proposal and the band kicking in, the bride-to-be had a male stripper, I get the feeling that he was her soon-to-be husband, judging by everyone's reaction. He didn't do the full monty, but it was still funny as hell to watch. Shortly after that I went to get me and Nath a drink, and on the way back from the bar I congratulated the newly engaged lady, turns out she has a voice that can break glass, I don't know if that's normal or just because she was drunk and/or excited.
I am also aware that none of this post is in chronological order, but the rally has thrown everything out of perspective and so I don't actually know what order anything happened in, I just know within two hours of getting to the rally I had had four different beers in three different pubs, one of those beers was a can I had bought with me, which I drank by the fire.

The Giraffe, the Booze, and Wardrobe
Sometime back in August I came up with an idea, and now, just over four months later, I have finally started to work towards it. The plan was to remove my slide out wardrobe that is under my homemade bunk bed. The wardrobe has always been pretty much useless, it's always been filled with junk, and so I have spent the day emptying it, and sorting through all the junk.
Before I get on to the many terrors of today, I've actually had a fairly interesting week. It was Nathan's eighteenth birthday, and so we all got plastered, and went to a nightclub. Getting plastered was nothing new to the rest of the group we were with, I was the only one who wasn't used to consuming vast amounts of alcoholic beverages.
Nathan's birthday came on the Thursday, along with what us Brits call a blizzard. I was able to use this "blizzard" as an excuse to get out of college early. A good job too, but I just missed the last bus back to Biddulph, and so I was stuck in Hanley bus station for an hour before the nice chaps at First Buses decided they'd send a bus to Biddulph. My D&G return ticket may have been wasted, but at least I made it home in one piece.
As soon as I got home though, I got changed and then left again. It was boozing time, and so we went on a pub crawl around Biddulph to celebrate Nathan's coming of age. I made the mistake of having the hottest curry served after already having three pints (which was three pints more than I'm used to drinking). That didn't go down too well, and I ended up "marking my territory" outside the pharmacy. The night continued without a hitch, but I was off the booze and I stuck to drinking cola.
The next night was the night I had been dreading for a very long time. Thankfully I didn't mark any territory this time around. That night was spent in a nightclub called Bunker 13, and we went up on the Extreme Metal night, which was awesome, I drank more than the previous night, I danced more than the previous night, and I loved every minute of it.
Saturday was spent recuperating, and I had to bug out of Nathan's house early otherwise his dad, Dion, would drag us to the pub again. I made a very good call, but it wasn't the pub they went, it was another birthday party, and so they got plastered. I on the other hand was at home, with two of Nathan's female cousins, I was flirting with one, and teaching the other guitar.
Then of course it came to today, I had already decided earlier in the week how I would spend today, and I actually stuck to my plan for a change. I did all my papers in the morning, and as soon as I got back home I was busy tearing my room apart. It took me about an hour and a half to clear my desk and empty my wardrobe, there was a lot of crap to move.
I uncovered many strange and lost treasures, such as a crappy ukulele, and a smelly turtle thingamajig. I found Magic cards, a toy Jaguar XKR from the film Die Another Day. I found drumsticks, and a set of Tangrams. I even found a papyrus bookmark which I lost about five years ago.
Once the junk was all removed I then had to take apart my wardrobe. A task which was very hard, and very scary. It being hard was most likely due to my incompetence with most things involving manual labour, it also didn't help knowing I couldn't destroy the wardrobe because my dad wanted to use the wood elsewhere. It became very scary when I realized I was trapped inside my bedroom and I even ended up trapped between my wardrobe and my door. I couldn't even get help when that was the case.
I was able to free myself and, shortly before the wardrobe was completely disassembled, help had finally arrived in the form of Nathan's cousin Paris, whom I was teaching to play guitar the night before. Her help was welcomed, and it was also a lot better than I expected it would be.
Anyway after what ended up being eight hours of horror, I was finally able to make this room usable, it's still nowhere near completion, but it's good enough for now. I still have a lot of stuff to sort through and dispose of, but I can now comfortable entertain two guests in my room, instead of simply just just squeeze in a guest, and hope for the best.

Girls and Philisophy
For those of you who are confused, which I imagine would be most of you, I should probably explain, so I'll start at the beginning. About nine or so months ago I got with a girl called Lydia, her mum hated me because I was eighteen, while her daughter was sixteen, and so me and Lydia were forced to part. But then in September Lydia found a way to communicate with me, and tried to restart a relationship between us. Which failed, because I'm an asshole.
Anyway, this has happened yet again, only this time not with Lydia, but someone else who was forced to part ways with me for the same reason, but since we both have smartphones now, we can easily communicate, which sparked an unofficial relationship. One which has escalated quite dramatically, but she still says it isn't a relationship, because we can't find a way past her mother.
So now that has happened/is happening, my brain has gone on a weird loop. My thought process is flicking between self hatred, and questioning the finer points of philosophy. Currently, I'm in the more philosophical mood, with a strange question in my head, one that I just had to make a philosoraptor meme for.
It was the first thing that came into my head after I put my guitar down about half an hour ago, and it is just floating around at the forefront of my mind. The question is going to bug me all night, but thankfully, I don't need any brainpower at college tomorrow, and so I can try and answer my question.
Anyway, I've had a surprisingly good week despite all the downs, I haven't needed to be in college! To make things better, my timetable has changed and I now have days a week off instead of just one. So I get to spend Fridays sleeping in through the morning. Either way, I'm going to enjoy my new timetable.

Modern Technology
I have been gifted with a smartphone! I don't know what I'm going to do with my smartphone, but I've got one now, which is definitely a nice start. I have to say that it a weird thing, it's grubby, and it has a cracked screen, but it was given to me by a plumber, who has just bought a Cat work-proof phone. It may be work proof, but I can pretty much guarantee that it is not Dion proof.
Anyway, the smartphone I received is a HTC Desire S, now I have never heard of HTC before, so I don't know if that means I am simply just out of the loop, or HTC are so bad it was probably a good job I hadn't heard about them. Either way, only time will tell.
Naturally the first thing I did on this phone is disable the auto-correct feature, I have received enough poorly written Skype messages to know that auto-correct is a very bad idea. After that I performed a factory reset, to cleanse it of all the old account details that can't be removed any other way. Then I installed Snapchat so I could annoy Nath's cousin.
My current opinion of this thing is that it's okay, but the battery seems non-existent, by the time I've loaded up my music the battery is has lost 30% of it's charge (exaggeration), my old phone may have been pretty crappy, but I only needed to charge it once or twice a week, this looks like it'll be on charge every night.
I was initially very skeptical of this phones alarm system, I had tried to listen to Iron Maiden through the phones speaker as a test, and I discovered that the speakers were very quiet, but when my alarm went off this morning it pulled me out of two dreams, for I was dreaming in my dream, and being pulled into the real world from two dreams is a very strange sensation. I suppose it also helps that I have a very loud song set as my alarm.
My only quarrel is that it is outdated, and so some of the games I wanted to put on it aren't compatible, which is a shame because Boom Beach looks pretty good. But I've got 9GAG, Instagram and Snapchat on it. I also have an app called SoundHound, which answered the question that has been plaguing me for three years now.
The question was: what is Bernard Doherty's theme song for Listomania (a radio show on Planet Rock)? This question has been bugging me for ages, because I have never heard it played before, and so I couldn't read the song name on the LED screen, thankfully Soundhound allows you to hum, sing or play a song/tune and it will tell you the song title. The song in question was Love Spreads by The Stone Roses, now I have the title, I can get to learning it on guitar.
I guess I have now joined the countless ranks of teenagers who are glued to their phones, or have I? Only time will tell I suppose.

Happy Horrors
This week has been one of those awesome weeks, filled with dark secrets, happiness, and horror. Since that makes no sense, I'm hoping you are now more inclined to read on. Since they are called secrets for a reason, you won't be reading about those, but I will start off by talking about the horror of this week.
So awhile ago I ordered a Harley Benton RB414CS from Musikhaus Thomann in Germany. The bass arrived this week, and I was extremely happy, especially since I was trapped in a bus with my scariest ex-girlfriend just moments before. Before my feeling of self hatred was lifted, I opened the box and discovered that the bass inside needed replacing, there was a problem with the plate the bridge pick-up was attached to.
So after an hour suffering Jasmine, I have to face disappointment. Typical. Anyway, Thomann have been nice to me and will exchange it, but first I have to get UPS to pick it up and send it back. That doesn't bother me since it's already been paid for.
Anyway, this week has thankfully included more happy things than bad things, for instance I ended up watching all three Little Mermaid films on Monday, on Wednesday, I picked up the Royal Blood album for a fiver, and just yesterday I finished working on this damn acoustic guitar which has been getting under my skin since me and Nath took on the damnable project.
More importantly, this week came with new guitar strings. So far I haven't found a sensation I like quite as much as the feel of new strings. Annoyingly I ordered the wrong set of strings, but that doesn't bother me, they still feel incredible, I'll just have to triple check next time (since my double check didn't work). In case you are wondering I ordered D'Addario Chromes Jazz Lights (I wanted the Extra Lights), the Jazz Lights are still awesome though, and if you haven't tried D'Addario Chromes I'd recommend you give them a shot.
Along with the strings I also ordered some Gibson Pump Polish, and some Planet Waves Lemon Oil. I'd recommend both products for those of you who like your guitars looking their best. I also get the feeling that I won't be buying anything this year I appreciate even half as much as that Lemon Oil (unless I buy the Ashdown Little Bastard).
Yes, I like buying guitar things, I'd also recommend that you guitarists get your hands on a string winder and a good set of wire clippers. I also can't stress the importance of buying a good strap (and if necessary, a set of Schaller Strap Locks) and also a decent lead, such as the Fender Performance Series leads.
I feel like this has been a massive advert, So I'll leave you with one last thing: beware of shoggoths, and avoid rutabagas.

Forwards
I realised when I posted my last column on Bronies UK that I missed out last weeks post, So Happy New Year everyone, I hope you all got wasted and had lots of fun, and I also hope that you can't remember all those naughty things you did that night. Joking aside, I have quite a lot of plans for this year, mostly centered around my band: Reincarnated Love.
I get the feeling the skeptics reading this are laughing, and have probably made a mental comment about me saying "joking aside," but I don't really care about what those skeptics think. No one can tell me with any certainty what will become of the band, It's not likely that we'll make it, but you never know. And unless the band does get anywhere, I still aim to have a steady income from elsewhere.
I also get the feeling there are others who have read my previous posts thinking something along the lines of "I thought he wanted to join the army," which is true, I do want to join the army, but I want to join as a musician. I position which will be pretty hard for me to score, especially since I can fill only one of about forty-five slots. Other things that will get in my way include the entrance exam, audition and the simple fact I am ungraded in my instruments.
I am actually confident in my audition, I'm working on the two pieces that I have to perform. I am grateful that I can chose the two pieces of music, as long as they contrast. The word contrast is what worries me the most, to me it could mean many things while referring to music. So I'm just going to have to hope that they accept the contrast I have chosen, and also hope they don't ask for the names of the pieces. Anyway, I try not to think about those things, the more I do, the less confident I feel, and a lack of confidence will obliterate my chances of success.
Anyway I seem to have sidetracked a little, so as for the band, we intend to get a four track EP recorded so we can stick it on ReverbNation and hopefully start gigging. We currently have a friend of ours working on our publicity for when we do get everything ready, but until then we can only practice what we have and write more.
The four tracks for the EP have all been written, one of which is even loaded with a solo from each member of the band, but since we no longer have a rhythm guitarist, Nathan will have to record the second guitar as well as his own, and hopefully we can train up a fourth member soon enough.
We will face a few difficulties when it comes to gigging, the first of which being we are a member down. But more than anything our current biggest problem is that we don't fully know what kit we will need, we do know that we can currently only play somewhere that already has a PA system, our amps are loud enough even if they don't get mic'ed up, but we only have 3 amps big enough to use: a 100 watt Trace Elliot Commando bass amp (solid state), a 100 watt guitar amp which we can't find any information on (also solid state), and an 80 watt Marshall Valvestate (which as the name suggests is both valve and solid state). The Marshall may be smaller than the others, but it is still very loud and will be perfectly usable in conjunction with the others.
The next problem will be transport, neither me, Nath or Phil can drive, and so we'll have to pack the majority of the kit in Nath's dad's van, once that is filled with the amps, and the drum kit, and the guitars, there probably won't be enough room for all of us. so my guess is that some of us will have to go in Phil's fiancée's car.
The next problem would be the sound tech, we don't have one of our own, and so we'll need to use whoever is at the venue, that is of course if there even is someone at the venue. So yeah, if you haven't guessed, being in a band is a lot more than most idiots expect it to be, and so we as a band have a lot of things to sort out.
This year is going to be fun...

Bollocks
Naturally last week went by very slowly and was about as entertaining as rubbing my own face in raw sewage. I have to admit, it would be great fun to rub someone else's face in raw sewage, but that wouldn't make much of a difference to most of the people I know.
In contrast to the empty week, this weekend was almost eventful, which is why this post is a wee bit late. So what happened? well on Saturday I went to the House of Zed for the first time in forever. It started off being quite enjoyable, before I started getting bombarded by bollocks. The bollocks briefly settled down a few times, but it soon returned.
So what was the bollocks? It was mainly Zed talking absolute bollocks to try and stop me from becoming a musician in the British Armed Forces. I could understand her wanting me to not sign up if I was going to join the Infantry, but I'm going in to be a musician, I won't see much combat, and even so, the job brief states that during those times I'll be assisting the Army Medical Services.
After I don't know how much bollocks she ended up laying on me, I was able to work out the reason she started all this: she doesn't like the way the Army does things. I don't think she knows how the Army does things, likewise she thinks that I don't know how the Army does things, she also thinks I have an over-romanticised view on it all, and that I'd never get a woman in my life if I join.
One thing is true, I don't know how the Army does things, I only know what I have been told, and what I have read. But I think I know more about my chosen career choice than what she does. As for thesecond point, I do have a bit of a romantic view towards the Army, but not in the way she believes. Finally, for the last point, I always thought girls were looking for a knight in shining armour, I know for a fact that shining armour is bollocks, I'd much rather become the soldier in battle-worn Kevlar.
Her third point was then improved slightly by saying that she wouldn't expect girls in the Army to go for a submissive chap like me. I think quite the contrary, I imagine the girls in the Army would be fed up of having a man tell them what to do all day, every day, I think they'd appreciate the change. Anyway, the bollocks continued, and I tried to direct it at her, but my attempts failed.
After awhile, there was a pause. The pause didn't last very long, and when it ended the bollocks had changed into something completely different. She said I needed to stop falling in love with every girl I meet. I straight up told her that was bollocks, adding that in the time she had known me I had only fallen for one person: her. That ended ages ago, when she decided to spend a forty-five minute long Skype call telling me how big of a cunt I was.
I then had to explain to her why I fell for her, and I then said that it was a common occurrence. Here is a link to an article that explains everything. I don't know how reliable that website is, but that topic is at least touched on in various psychology books. if you read it you'll notice it that it's about falling for your therapist, which is what Zed used to be for me, and she helped me overcome my depression, before sending me back into it, albeit, only briefly.
It wasn't long before the bollocks went back to what it originally was, I was fighting a losing battle, but I'm not going to change just because she asked me to. Thankfully it was soon time for me to leave, and I was grateful to find at home that pizza was in the oven, and my favourite brother was visiting us so we could all sit down together and watch Guardians of the Galaxy, which I'd highly recommend for those of you who haven't yet seen it.
The next day was full of less bollocks, but I get the feeling, I'm going to feel the wrath of more this week, and maybe my angry ex-girlfriend Dana, will come and brutally murder me, which might be nice, or maybe Jade (an annoying dumbass from college) will murder me. Anyway, back to the original topic, I bought my old guitar back off my ex yesterday, it's in a better condition than I thought, but it needs a proper set-up, I've done the best I can and it still isn't right.
As to why this post wasn't posted yesterday, after I bought (and mostly set-up) that guitar, my favourite brother picked me up and so we went up to his and watched films. We only watched two, but we had to go pick his wife up from the train station after the first which took awhile, and then we all sat down to watch the second film while eating dinner.
So I have some film recommendations for those of you who haven't yet seen them: The Lego Movie, Porco Rosso, 40 Year Old Virgin, Frozen and Guardians of the Galaxy. Yes, I did just chose all the films I watched this week, I think all of them are awesome, and I get the feeling you'll like them all too. Enjoy!

Party Number One & Party Number Two
This week hasn't been a very eventful one, however I did get quite a few things done, and my weekend was actually quite exciting. So why wasn't my week exciting? Well nothing happened, I went to college, I played guitar, and then I went back to bed. But come Friday, all the fun things started to happen.
Friday did start off slowly, I went to college, I did college things and then I came home, where I sat around doing nothing while I waited for a message over Skype. That message came just as I sat down to eat my dinner, and I was halfway through my post on Bronies UK. Things were about to get interesting, and so I scoffed down my food as fast as my tiny mouth would let me, and quickly typed up my last paragraph to my latest post.
Before I could finish doing all that, Nathan had arrived at my door, he was wondering what was taking me so long, and rushed me the rest of the way through. Once that was done we set off for party number one: his uncle's Birthday Party. Nothing much happened at party number one, and we bailed as soon as we had the chance. I did see my ex-girlfriend Tiegan there, who was looking pretty in her dress, and doing everything in her power to avoid eye-contact with me (which was to be expected), it was no surprise that she was there though, she lives at that house.
Once we bailed we ended up standing at a bus stop for about 40 minutes, it was boring as smeg but much more interesting than party number one. The bus came, and the mood soon lightened up and after about 20 minutes in the buss, and a 10 minute walk, we had finally arrived at party number two: the Greedy Pigs Christmas Party!
Annoyingly we arrived at party number two a little too early, the Piggies were all still finishing their desserts. A few of the Piggies had finished eating and so we mingled a little bit, but we still had to wait about 15 minutes before the main event kicked in. An AC/DC tribute band called Dirty Little Touch, they stuck to performing the Bon Scott era AC/DC stuff, and with me only being a casual fan of AC/DC, I didn't know much of that era, since the Brian Johnson songs are what they predominantly play on the radio.
Just before the band kicked in I started the first of what became three pints of whatever pale ale was on the tap. I've never really been much of a drinker, and so those three pints made me quite tipsy, and for the first time, I got myself drunk. I wasn't completely wankered, but I was still drunk nonetheless. And so, I don't remember much of what happened at the party, other than the fact I was actually on the dance floor, and judging by my neck in the morning, I must have been headbanging like there was no tomorrow.
We got back in from the party at about one O'clock in the morning, and the first thing we did was order a curry. I have to say, there is nothing quite like a Vindaloo at that time in the morning, It went down a charm, but when I woke up to do my papers at half-past-six, I regretted it, I got about two houses into my round before my arse started to build up a lot of pressure. It soon became hard to concentrate on walking in a straight line, delivering the right papers to the right houses and not shit myself.
Thankfully I managed to hold myself together long enough to get back to Nathan's house, where I was grateful to find that the downstairs toilet was right by the back door, and more importantly, unoccupied. This is where I realised that it was a very bad idea to choose a Vindaloo, magma was spewing from my arse, and tears were flooding from my eyes, but I didn't think that through when I decided what curry I was going to have, I should have just stuck with a Masala, something that wouldn't hurt coming out, but no, I had to be an idiot.
The pain didn't last long at least, I walked upstairs with stiff legs and flopped onto the bed Nathan had set up for me. I was fast asleep the second I had fought off the last of my clothes and by the time I woke up most of my pain had gone. I still felt groggy, and my neck was still stiff, but my arse felt great, that is until just before I went to bed that night, when I needed another dump.
Today was also quite entertaining, albeit, not particularly eventful. One event of today did strike me as odd though. A few weeks ago I went into B&M to buy WD40 (well, a cheap rip-off of WD40 which does the exact same things), I was ID'ed before U could buy it. Yet today I bought two bottles of beer, using a different cashier, and I didn't get ID'ed. can you see the problem there? I look fourteen and yet I wasn't ID'ed to buy booze? That was quite confusing, but it made me smile.

Yet today I bought two bottles of beer, using a different cashier, and I didn't get ID'ed. can you see the problem there? I look fourteen and yet I wasn't ID'ed to buy booze? That was quite confusing, but it made me smile.

Please Allow me to Reintroduce Myself
I have been gone for quite awhile now, I haven't actually been anywhere, but I haven't posted in awhile. This has been for two simple reasons, first of which is that my schedule has been completely thrown into disarray, and secondly, I have been rather down. Any, since I have been gone for awhile, I thought I'd take this opportunity to reintroduce myself, as it has been about ten months since my initial introduction, and I have gone through quite a lot of changes since then.
I'd like to start off by saying that I am still a typical teenage lad, full of just as much shit as every other teenage lad. At the same time I'm not a typical teenage lad, since I spend a large portion of my time pretending to be a cat. Doing so has given me the nickname Kitty, and doing so keeps me very entertained.
Probably the biggest change that has occurred since my initial post is my relationship status, I've gone from being in the mostly stable relationship I was in when we started, to being single and pretty much friendless, from there I gained friends, followed by what would have been another mostly stable relationship if her mother wasn't a fascist dictator, to being single again, during that stage I became a bit depressed. Once I cheered myself up again, I was able to thrust myself into a new relationship which started on Tuesday, and now I'm about ninety-nine-point-nine percent sure that I am single once again. Go me.
There have of course been other changes that have happened since my initial post. I have formed a band, with my mate Nathan, I have started teaching other friends to play guitar, and I've even started at Stoke College, allowing me to make a few new friends, lads who I'm sure I'd normally not even think about associating myself with, but now we're pretty good pals.
These changes aren't really anything worth reintroducing myself because of though are they? Not really, or at least I don't think so. I have however, gone through a few more changes that aren't so physical. Namely my dreams ambitions, and my personal motto(s) . Last time I posted this I was looking forward to becoming an Infantry Soldier in the British Armed Forces, I'm now aiming to be a Musician for the army instead.
So about my dreams, I can't remember what they were when I last posted, I also can't remember if I posted them. I do know they have changed, for my current dream is to have a fairy tale romance with a woman whom I love. Back in my initial post, I strongly believed I had that, but since that relationship ended quite painfully, I must have been wrong, Also looking back on it, it amazes me that I even believed that in the first place.
My ambitions are a bit less far fetched, I just want to make it as a musician, either in the army, or in a band, or as a teacher. I don't really want to do any other job, although I'd accept being a luthier. I'd like to record an album at least, Which I plan on doing just as soon as I work out how I'd go about recording the drums, and also after writing at least thirty-five minutes worth of material.
I'd also like to endorse a worthy guitar company, and hopefully receive my own signature model guitar. The sad part of that is that I've planned out all the specifications of the instrument I can think of. If the company I currently want to produce my signature guitar actually do it, It'd most likely end up being the most expensive instrument they produce, probably down to the simple fact it has a nitrocellulose lacquer.
I know that last time I posted this I said nothing about my motto, well that is because I didn't actually have one back then. I now have two. The first motto came from an interview that Doyle Wolfgang von Frankenstein did with Premier Guitar. He said, "You don't have to be a great musician to make great music." I don't know if he made that up on the spot, rehearsed it, or copied it from someone else, but I'll continue to cite that quote as his, because he is the one who said it (albeit indirectly) to me.
The other motto came to me a few weeks ago, just after I proved a point. I said a short phrase to a friend of mine which just stuck in my head and rang several bells, "I may not know much shit, but I know my shit." Chances are I would have forgotten it, but since I italicized the "my" it clung to me, the statement has been changed slightly, but the message remains the same, as long as I know and stay true to myself I'll be happy.
Of course knowing myself also means acknowledging a few weaknesses of mine, such as my fears, and the various other little things that drive me to ruin, one of which is currently trying to drag me to hell (metaphorically) as I type this, but I think I've got it under control. That little problem is my tendency to feed off small slivers of hope, usually when I grasp onto one I cheer up like mad, but take that away and I fall further into my darker self.
Either way, I sit here now, dreaming silly dreams, debating my own silly beliefs. And wondering if there really is a Squid God. Perhaps that should be a silly little goal of mine, create my own religion, a religion in which the followers worship squids, and maybe other cephalopods.
I have a lot to think about....

Spit and Polish, Iron, Iron, Iron
So I have spent quite a lot of time this week polishing my boots. Normally I wouldn't bother with such a thing since I put my footwear through quite a lot and it seems like wasted effort to do such a thing. That has now changed since I have taken up an Army Preparation Course, and since we were issued our uniforms last week, I now have to make sure everything looks neat and tidy. Which also means ironing, something I have never even attempted before.
Anyway, I done a lot of polishing, and I can now say that my boots have been bulled quite nicely. Of course there is still a lot of work to do on them, they will take a few weeks before they start to glow, but they do look very sexy as it is. I'm also finding the whole process of polishing my boots to be quite a relaxing one. Ironing on the other hand...
So about twenty minutes ago I touched an iron for the first time in my life, yes I'm eighteen years old and I have never even touched an iron, let alone used one. I found the entire process to be the most infuriating thing imaginable, I now just want to smash things apart with a sledge hammer, but the effort involved in getting a sledge hammer is too much, and I might get my gloriously shiny boots dirty.
If you haven't guessed, I've become very protective over my boots. But that isn't the only fashion related thing that bugs me. In college we have to wear a bright red lanyard, and we have to wear it on the outside of whatever else we're wearing. In the case of the APC students, like myself, we have to wear it over a dark green jumper. Bright red lanyard, over a dark green jumper. The colour combination is so absurd it makes my eyeballs melt. It would be alright if there was something to separate the colours, or some red on my jumper (like everyone else but me has), but there isn't, so I'm stuck complaining about the colours of my attire.
This is going to be quite a short post because I haven't done anything, other than complain about my uniform, and fight with it.

A Big Box of Loud
Yet another week at college, only this one had some excitement in it. Not much mind, but excitement is excitement nonetheless. I also had an incredible weekend and I even made a new friend last week. I think I may have lost a friend, my most important friend, but I get the feeling that will all sort itself out soon enough.
Anyway I'm going to start with my little adventure in college, it wasn't really much of an adventure though, but it was a small amount of excitement. Our tutor decided that with the weather being so nice, it would be a great idea to take us up the Roaches. It what a day it was, especially when one of our group decided to jump off a rock shouting "catch me Josh!" only to land, flat on her face, no where near Josh.
That was actually the highlight of that day, other events weren't quite as entertaining. Although it was fun knowing that Kyle hurt himself, and it was also satisfying to sit atop the trig point eating a jam sandwich. It really was a good jam sandwich too.
Then came Wednesday, which was the awesome day that allowed me to make a new friend. It's not an interesting story, so I'm going to skip through it, meaning I can get onto the interesting bit that follows. Anyway I was at Nathan's house, as per usual on a Wednesday, when suddenly his cousin comes around, with her friend. She asked for guitar lessons, we gave her guitar lessons, we made a date for next time and then they left.
Friday was the next lesson, once I came in from college, I went to Nathan's, and then we walked up to his cousin's house and waited for her to get back from school. While we waited, we showed off our musical skills to her siblings, and once she arrived we just wound her up about her friend who she had brought over to Nath's on Wednesday.
The winding up was the usual deal of, me and Nath taking it in turns to say how much we'd "like to give her one" (which we wouldn't actually do to someone of her age). But at one point, she got rather annoyed with us and decided it would be better for me to just "shut up and play guitar." Four chords later, I wrote a song about how much I'd like to "give her friend one." It may have only been two verses, but a song is a song nonetheless.
That aside, Saturday soon came around, and when it did, I went out and bought myself a new bass amp, big enough for small gigs. Before I bought it, I had a quick go of it at a friends house, for I was buying it off him, and I looked at the dials and thought, "volume 3 should be low enough," I played a low E note and next thing I knew, everything shook. I quickly muted the note, and everything continued to shake for another few seconds.
I then turned everything down to 1 and tried playing something, this time only the cutlery in the kitchen draws shook. Even at it's lowest settings that amp is insanely loud, I played a few famous bass lines that I could think of, and a few not so famous ones which I like to show off with. It didn't take me long to decide that I like that amp, so I happily paid for it.
Once that was set up in Nathan's garage, he got a little jealous. I was happily playing through my 100 watt Trace Elliot amp, and he was stuck with a puny 30 watt Marshall. A solution quickly came, and we then went up to his uncles house to borrow his 100 watt guitar amp. We had it set up in no time, and then we started jamming, very loudly, in his garage through these insanely awesome amps.
Annoyingly it soon became time for our Ghost Hunt, which was more like a test of courage, which we failed. Unfortunately, before we could do that Ghost Hunt, we had to pack up the amps, which meant carrying them out of the garage without scratching one of his dads expensive bikes, then carrying them through a narrow passage without letting the animals escape, and then finally carrying them upstairs into his room.
The next day we brought the amps back down into the garage, as I'm pretty sure you expected, and jammed once more. There was a slight difference with this jam though: we were in Drop D tuning. After a few minutes of aimless, nonsensical playing, we had a proper jam on the go, and soon we had the bass and guitar parts for a song, this included three guitar solos. Now we just need to get a drum kit set up in that garage and we'll be sorted, and even have a drum track on the go. I'd also like to add that I even wrote lyrics to that song out this morning and I've called it Dearest Friend of Mine, and no, the song isn't as pleasant as the title suggests.

I'm Not Okay
Well Another goodbye to yet another event free week, and a big hello to what will probably be yet another event free. I feel like talking about some vaguely philosophical mumbo-jumbo, because I'm just in one of those pretty crap moods when you question pretty much everything that is or isn't or might be or might not be. So if you're in one of those moods also, I invite you to read this post.
I'm just going to jump to the point and question the general stupidity of the mundane. Why must we live such a boring life? I'm sure there are much more interesting things to be doing, and yet here I am writing complete and total balls on a weekly basis, and you're reading it probably by accident. Either way, you're reading this, and that's all that counts.
So why is it that I'm stuck here writing this balls, and you're reading it? Why can't one of us or all of us be off on some grand adventure? The answer is simple enough really. Money. It's the root of all our problems, we can't go on a grand adventure, because we need money to do so, and if we're adventuring, we're not making money to live.
It just adds to the bollocks, there are billions of lifeforms on this planet, and as humans we are the only one of them that requires money to live. And so I'm stuck here, after a long day at college which I need to attend so I can prepare to make money to live off. Which leaves me with a lack of time to enjoy socialising, and creating interesting stories to write about, because all my friends are doing the same damn thing, and none of us can get any free time together because our schedules clash.
Well now I've answered my question, and if you're question was what I thought it was I've answered that too. So yes, I'm in a bad mood because I feel like my most important friendship is going to throw itself into the abyss. Of course I could always make new friendships in college or when I leave college to get a job. But I've only just gained the friendships I've got, and I've settled into them nicely, but now the one I deem to be the most important, is fading away due to this cursed scheduling.
So in short: screw college. Screw time. Screw money. Screw schedules. Screw this. Screw that. Et cetera, et cetera, et cetera...

They Call Me Kitty
This week I started college, which wasn't as bad as I was expecting it to be. I even have the class call me Kitty, which is awesome! I finally have people call me by a nickname. Believe it or not that is probably the most interesting thing that has happened this week, I have gained a nickname. Anyway, it's not actually much of a story, and nothing of interest has happened at college for me yet.
So on a completely unrelated note, I'm just going to talk about this weeks disappointment. In a way this disappointment was a bit of a relief, but it was still disappointing. Anyway, on Tuesday, I once again confessed my love to Zed, which she naturally just shrugged aside and ignored, as she has done that last X times. The next day out of the blue she invites me to stay the weekend, which filled me with a nice amount of false hope.
As you can probably guess I was expecting her to either obliterate me the way she did Ash and crush all my current hopes, or I was expecting her to have a mad pro-con debate with me about whether or not she should date me, and hopefully say yes in the end.
But no, nothing of the sort happened, we just sat around playing guitar, then we made a pizza (and ate it), then we continues to play guitar for another few hours. Once we had finished playing guitar we lay down together on the sofa bed, once more raising my hopes slightly, and watched a TV program about phone sex.
It felt like I got somewhere that night, but I'm pretty damn sure I didn't, and I still went to bed with a big smile, until the fish-tank's light went out and I was surrounded by scary darkness. The next day even less happened, two hours after we woke up, about the sort of time we, as teenagers, finally actually woke up, her mother returned from her weekend away. Meaning I couldn't progress further.
After that I ended up meeting her dog, who has always been kept away from me, because he's usually evil and I'm terrified of dogs, but as it turned out, Merlin wasn't as bad as I was expecting. Although I still don't feel comfortable around him. On top of that I also met her dad, who likes me, and for that reason alone, I'm very wary of him...
