The Magical Land of Brum!

I realised too late that I missed last weeks post, but I don't care, nothing interesting happened that week anyway, although I did get a kick-ass new CD that makes me want to create a blog for reviewing the albums I own and buy. But this post isn't about that album, its actually about my week visiting my mother in Solihull (near Birmingham).

Since it's half term, and I wasn't able to visit her over Christmas me and my girlfriend Dana decided to spend a week with my mother, so we did, naturally we didn't do much of interest other than completely empty our bank accounts (which wasn't much of an achievement for either of us, it was however impressive that I actually had money to spend). The main highlight from the trip was our visit to Cineworld where we watched Frozen, I was actually shocked that it was her choice to watch it, I'm the fan of Disney Princesses not her. But still it was her choice to see it, and it was EPIC! If you haven't seen it already watch it, however it is rated PG (in the UK, I don't know what it's rated elsewhere) so the cinema will be full of annoying little kids, so don't say I didn't warn you when you spend the entire film getting kicked by a 4 year old douchebag.

The other highlight (for me at least) was that I finally bought myself a Warhammer 40K army, and my mother gave me the space marine side of the old 40K starter box (Assault on Black Reach) she also made me put together her Orks and I really couldn't be bothered, but I did. More importantly she gave me a metal Thunderfire cannon, which can't be fielded in a Dark Angels army. Crap. It looks cool at least, and I will be able to use it in an Apocalypse army, because anything goes.

Other than the Warhammer 40K army, I also bought (and read) a book called The Art of War by Sun Tzu its about 2500 years old and well worth the read, and probably worth a few more read throughs, just to let it all sink in. As the title suggests it's about waging war but more importantly it's about being a great leader, so you can always use the war as a metaphor and use it in business management or something along those lines, also good for teachers.

And then there were the albums, which I will review on a separate blog when I can be bothered to make it.

Pull!

This week has been quite a good one, despite the minor setbacks, like spending most of Thursday in great pain because I was ill, oh well I watched my favourite film (V for Vendetta) to try and make up for it, it worked. Annoyingly my throat is still sore, and I keep sucking on out of date menthol tablets to try and make it better, is that actually a good idea? Another setback was that I'm not the only person who is ill, my girlfriend also suffered, and I had to face the consequences of that.

But no one cares about the first part of the week, the interesting bit is what happened on Saturday. put simply I went to Cloudside Shooting & Sporting Club for so clay pigeon shooting. It was so much fun, and a hobby I'm considering taking up, especially since it's cheaper than Warhammer. It was the best thing that could of been done for my 18th birthday.

My eldest brother Chaz (aged 26), who considers himself to be extremely manly, spent most of the time wining about how much the shotguns recoil hurt his shoulder, it was rather annoying, but it just means I can happily call him a pansy because he was the only one who was hurt by it. however the git did tie second place with my next oldest brother William, who I'm also tempted to call a pansy because he wore his plated motorbike jacket, however I can't blame him, it's his only coat and it was cold up there.

In relation to the scores, our South African friend Dan won, with a mighty 31 kills (I Don't know what these are out of) with my dad coming last at 18 kills. Dad may not of done well but he certainly looked the part. I came 3rd (since my brothers tiedon 25) I scored 22 kills, which wasn't bad for my first time.

As a very quick review of the place, the service was brilliant, the people there were all friendly and polite, especially when teaching us how to shoot properly, more importantly (at least for some) the food was exquisite, it's not often I get a pie that good. Also it is licensed to serve booze, but no one cares about that when the tea (and coffee*) is free (at least it was for us).

If you read last weeks post you would know some things about me, but more importantly you would of read my prediction for my only birthday present (a Chocolate Orange) well I was right and after sacrificing 4 segment to the Blood God Khorne (my girlfriend Dana) I was able to sit back and enjoy my chocolatey treat while my horribly sensitive teeth complained.

I'd also like to point out that after a long winded debate over the pie, mentioned earlier, that we all came to the conclusion that I can't be allergic to penicillin, since I can happily devour Stilton cheese in copious amounts. So as it turns out I am medically sound, which means I should be accepted into the army when I next apply.

* I felt the need to put coffee in brackets because coffee is not British and what we are talking about is really a sport undertaken by the English tweed-wearing gentleman, and coffee doesn't quite suit the stereotype. If you are a coffee drinker just be glad that I was considerate enough to point out the fact that coffee is also free, and also be grateful that I have devoted a whole paragraph to that cursed beverage.

Allow Me to Introduce Myself

If you cared to read either of my previous two blogs, and I highly doubt you have read the first, you would already know that I am a typical teenage lad, and I'm full of as much shit as every other teenage lad (or lass). But if you haven't (which Is more likely) I'd like to start out by telling you that I'm a typical teenage lad who is full of as much shit as every other teenage lad (or lass).

Now that  that is over and done with I can get onto the next bit, which is just me trying to tell you a little bit about myself, this may not be that interesting, but it may help understanding me in future blogs, so I will do my best to make it sound as enthralling as I can.

My name is George Booth, I'm 17 years old, and about 5'7 tall. Like everyone I used to follow the naive belief that I would soon become a star, I used to think that I had what it takes to be famous rock star, but if you read my last blog you would know that I don't. So my current ambition, is a much more simpler one, to join the British Army, after that it's the normal boring mundane stuff like buy a house, get married, have 2.3 perfect children, and own a Rolls Royce Phantom. OK owning a Rolls is taking that a little too far, but I think everyone in life truly aims to own their favourite car.

I guess the real question is why. Why do I want to join the army? Why have I given up on my previous ambition to be the next Alice Cooper? The answer is actually quite simple, in fact it can be cut down to just one word: school. Going to school is the thing that destroys dreams. Going to school is the thing that destroys ambitions. If it wasn't for all the teachers telling me what is and what isn't an "acceptable" choice in potential future employment, and making me think beyond the current time, I would still want to be a world renowned musician. But apparently rockstar is an "unacceptable" choice of potential future employment, so army it is.

It's not all doom and gloom though, remember in reception (or kindergarten as it's called everywhere except the UK) when you had to stand up and say "When I grow up I wanna be a [insert job title here]"? Well I said I wanted to be either a soldier or a firefighter, over the years that has changed many times, I've wanted to be a librarian, a vet, an author, an astronaut, a homicidal maniac and even a lab technician, but it's come full circle and I want to be a soldier again.

Of course they would never accept the lazy bastard that I used to be into the army, so I started training, and that gave me a new (inexpensive) hobby: running. Now I run about 18 miles a week (and I even do circuit training when I can). The reason I had to put "inexpensive" in those brackets earlier is because I'm terrible with money, so inexpensive hobbies are quite important. Which makes trying to get a Warhammer 40K army ridiculously hard. I should really blame myself for this but I will instead blame Steam.

Other than running, my hobbies are mostly musical and there is also sex. I am a big fan of music, as you should of guessed by now, in particular psychobilly, punk and metal. And seriously who doesn't like sex.

At the moment there aren't that many things going on in my life, I'm working on achieving grade 5 in my guitar lessons, and I'm also trying to save money, which is even harder now that my brother is badgering me, and Valentines Day is coming up so I have to do something special for my girlfriend, thankfully I have a batch of potential disappointment coming up next week as it will be my 18th birthday, by eldest brother Chaz has promised to take me clay-pigeon shooting, but he hasn't really done particularly well with his last few promises, and since I had a really big Christmas present, I doubt I'm going to get anything too fancy, maybe a Chocolate Orange, to be perfectly honest that would be perfect, I'd love a Chocolate Orange.

Since I mentioned it I may as well say at least something about my Christmas, I got 12 pairs of socks, I couldn't believe it, it would be a godsend, if I didn't already have a tonne of socks, what I really need is jeans and boxer shorts, not socks. admittedly I don't really like the idea of receiving boxer shorts of my brother, but oh well.

I'd like to end with a few favourites of mine.
In regards to music my favourite artists are; Alice Cooper, Iron Maiden, Nekromantix, Marilyn Manson, Blitzkid and Misfits.
In regards to books my favourites are; Frankenstein, Mogworld, The Inheritance Cycle and His Dark Materials.
In regards to films my favourites are; Star Wars, V for Vendetta, Alien, School of Rock and Nosferatu: A Symphony of Horror.
In regards to television* my favourites are; One Piece, My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, Sora No Otoshimono and Squid Girl.

One more thing, according to the definitions I can find, I'm officially a psychopath, but I haven't received a professional opinion as of yet.

* I don't actually like television
